Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) kicked off 2026 with a trophy, securing the French Super Cup after a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Olympique de Marseille.

The match, held Thursday evening at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium in Kuwait, ended 2-2 after regulation time, with PSG triumphing 4-1 on penalties.

PSG opened the scoring in the 13th minute through Ousmane Dembélé, while Mason Greenwood equalized for Marseille in the 76th minute.

Marseille briefly took the lead again in the 87th minute via an own goal by defender William Patou, but substitute Gonzalo Ramos leveled the score for the Parisians with a close-range strike in stoppage time (90+5).

The penalty shootout saw PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier shine, saving attempts from Matthieu O’Reilly and Hamid Traoré, guiding his team to victory and the first trophy of the year.

This marks PSG’s 12th French Super Cup win in the last 13 editions, with Lille the only team to interrupt their dominance with a 1-0 win in 2021.

The triumph also extends PSG’s total Super Cup titles to 14, achieved across 111 encounters against Marseille in all competitions.
