PSA Suspends Egypt's Mostafa Asal for 12 Weeks for 'Unsportsmanlike Conduct'

The Professional Squash Association (PSA) suspended Squash star and Al Ahly player Mostafa Asal for 12 weeks and fined him £5,000 due to unsportsmanlike conduct.

In a statement released by PSA, the association said: "The Professional Squash Association (PSA) can confirm that Mostafa Asal has been given a 12-week suspension from the PSA Tour – commencing from July 18 – in addition to a £5,000 fine."

The association added that Asal was charged with three separate incidents and breaches of the PSA codes.

It stated: "Article 4.L ‘Abuse of Racket or Equipment’ and Article 4.O ‘Unsportsmanlike Conduct’ during his round three match with Joel Makin at the PSA World Championships on May 6, 2023.

Article 4.N ‘Physical Abuse’ and Article 4.P ‘Dangerous Play’ during his round three match with Joel Makin at the PSA World Championships on May 6, 2023.

Article 4.0 ‘Unsportsmanlike Conduct’ during his quarter-final match with Mazen Hesham at the PSA World Championships on May 8, 2023."

The statement concluded that Asal accepted the suspension and decided to not appeal during the 15-day period.
