The Prophet’s Mosque in the holy city of Madinah has opened its doors to Muslim worshipers earlier Sunday after being closed for two months due to COVID-19.

Muslims performed Fajr prayers while maintaining a certain social distance among them.

The body temperatures of the Muslims were also checked before they entered the mosque.

Saudi Arabia has planned to reopen the country and ease lockdown restrictions. The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosque King Salman has approved the opening of Prophet’s Mosque in stages for the pubic.

The worshipers have been permitted to enter the mosque with a limit of 40 percent capacity. Prayer rugs have been removed from the courtyards.

The Ministry has advised people to follow preventive measures to curb the spread of coronavirus. People have been advised to perform ablution at home, wash hands, and use sanitizers before going to the Mosque and after coming back to home.

In addition to this, elderly people and those having chronic diseases are recommended to perform prayers at homes.

It is worth mentioning that, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared coronavirus a global pandemic as the new virus has rapidly spread from Asia to the Middle East, Europe, and the United States

Transmission of virus between humans happens when someone comes into contact with an infected person’s secretions, such as droplets in a cough.

It can also be transmitted by coming into contact with something an infected person has touched and then touching your mouth, nose, or eyes.
