Prominent Thinker Salah Fadl Passes away

Prominent thinker, and the director of the Academy of the Arabic Language in Cairo, Dr. Salah Fadl passed away at the age of 84, on Saturday.

 The Academy of the Arabic Language in Cairo mourned, in an official statement, the death of the thinker.

The funeral prayer will take place after the noon prayer at Fatma El Sharbatly Mosque in Cairo.

Fadl graduated from the Faculty of Dar-Al Uloom, Cairo University in 1962, and was appointed as a researcher at the college until 1965.

He also had his Ph.D. degree from Madrid University, and during his stay in Spain, he contributed to reviving the heritage of Averroes (Ibn Rushd).

Next, he established a department of Arabic language and its arts at the National Autonomous University of Mexico in 1975.

He also lectured at a huge number of universities around the world and wrote dozens of books in the field of criticism, comparative literature, theater, novel, and poetry.

Fadl also widened the horizons of studies and research in the field of the Arabic language.
