Veteran Egyptian journalist Sami Metwally passed away, on Wednesday, after suffering from health issues.
Metwally had a distinguished career in which he enriched the Egyptian press with many works and articles.
He also held many leadership positions in Al-Ahram, where he worked as editor-in-chief for many years and was the first parliamentary editor in Egypt.
In 1958, Metwally joined Al-Ahram as one of the first batches of graduates from the Journalism Department of the Faculty of Arts in Cairo.
The journalist recorded his memoirs in a book he published in 2015 entitled "Fifty Years of Love in Al-Ahram & Parliament".
