Pro Wrestling Legend Jerry Jarret Passes away

On Wednesday, pro wrestling legend, Co-Founder of Impact Wrestling, and the father of WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarret, Jerry Jarret passed away at the age of 80 years old.

Jarrett started his career as a promoter in Memphis for decades before moving to the United States Wrestling Association in 1995. 

In 2002, he returned to wrestling with his son Jeff to launch TNA/IMPACT Wrestling.

He also had a great career as a promoter with Continental Wrestling Association beginning in 1977. 

CWA featured talents such as Jerry Lawler, Terry Funk, Hulk Hogan, Stan Hansen, Ric Flair, Rick Rude, Randy Savage, and more.

Jarrett began his career as a referee in the 1960s before becoming a wrestler and promoter.

Jarrett wrote two books about his time in wrestling and was inducted into the NWA Hall of Fame in 2009.

Impact Wrestling mourned Jarret, saying: “Today we mourn the loss of TNA/Impact Wrestling Co-Founder and a true legend in our business.” 

IMPACT Wrestling executive vice-president Scott D’Amore added: “Wrestler, promoter, entrepreneur, and visionary in our profession, Jerry Jarrett is one of the most influential individuals in the history of our sport."
