The Maulana Azad Centre for <a href="https:\/\/see.news\/indian-community-in-cairo-celebrate-unveiling-ghandhi-statue\/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Indian<\/a> Culture (MACIC), <a href="https:\/\/www.eoicairo.gov.in\/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Embassy of India, Cairo<\/a>, in cooperation with Ministry of Education, Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt, held the prize distribution ceremonies of the \u2018Glimpses of India\u2019 Painting competition at Fayoum, Mansoura, Sharqiya and Cairo between 27 November and 1 December 2019.\r\n\r\nThe award ceremonies for the first phase of the competition were held in Ismailia, Alexandria, Port Said and Minya governorates in October 2019.\r\n\r\n<img class="alignnone size-large wp-image-94537" src="https:\/\/see.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/bc3c1137-327f-4c6d-a933-9e25c7fe2bc4-1024x739.jpg" alt="" width="1024" height="739" \/>\r\n\r\nThe award function in Cairo, held on 1st December at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Theatre, featured an exhibition of prize-winning entries. Ambassador Rahul Kulshreshth and Dr. Rabab Abdelmohsen Imam, General Manager, Art Education Development Department, Ministry of Education, awarded the prizes to the winners. Dr. Liyaqath Ali, Director, MACIC, honored the jury members, sponsors, and partners.\r\n\r\n<img class="alignnone size-large wp-image-94538" src="https:\/\/see.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/7409c1e4-36ca-46b7-8933-15e0d82736da-1024x698.jpg" alt="" width="1024" height="698" \/>\r\n\r\nA dance troupe from India led by Ms. Narmada Devi and sponsored by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations performed Manipuri dances on the occasion.\r\n\r\nThe Glimpses of India painting competition, held annually since 1994, marks the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi, Father of the Nation, Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, India\u2019s first Minister of Education.\r\n\r\n<img class="alignnone size-large wp-image-94539" src="https:\/\/see.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/3df8d284-7b46-443d-99e6-52a2a1d9d00f-1024x739.jpg" alt="" width="1024" height="739" \/>\r\n\r\nAbout 16,000 children in the age-group of 6-18 years from over 1600 schools in twelve governorates participated in the painting competition this year. 225 prize-winning entries were selected by a seven-member jury under different categories. Prizes were also awarded to ten differently-abled participants.\r\n\r\nThe 2019 competition was supported by SCIB Paints, Monginis and Lava Mobiles.
