Hazem El-Menoufy, a member of the General Division of Foodstuffs in the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce said that the prices of rice, sugar and cooking oil dropped on Sunday, and are expected to continue declining during the next few days.
El-Menoufy explained in a press release today that the price of a ton of rice decreased by EGP 1000, as it fell from an average of EGP 12,000-15,000 to EGP 11,000-14,000, and it is expected to continue to decline, especially after the entry of imported rice.
He added that the price of sugar also decreased by EGP 250 per ton, from EGP 12,000 to EGP 11,750, while the price of a ton of oil globally decreased by EGP 700 to record EGP 31,100 per ton instead of EGP 31,800 per ton.
