Health Affairs Presidential Advisor Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din said that Egypt is witnessing a slight increase in Coronavirus infections.

"No new variants have been reported officially in Egypt so far,” Tag El-Din added in televised remarks.

Moreover, he stressed that the Coronavirus situation is stable, urging citizens to stick to precautionary measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

“If the number of infections continues to increase, Egypt will enter the fourth wave of Corona,” the presidential advisor noted.

On Saturday, Egypt’s Health Ministry reported 99 new coronavirus cases, bringing the country’s total up to 285,257.

The total number of COVID-19-related deaths has now reached 16,615 nationwide after the ministry announced 6 deaths.

About 109 patients were discharged from quarantine at isolation hospitals, raising the total number of fully-recovered cases to 233,881.

Egypt plans to vaccinate 40 million citizens by the end of the year, representing around 40% of the population.
