In a pivotal address at the ‘Story of the Homeland’ conference, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi underscored a decade of achievements and highlighted the forthcoming presidential elections as a pivotal moment for potential change in the nation.

El-Sisi, speaking at the conference, conducted from September 30 to October 2 in the burgeoning New Administrative Capital, presented a tableau of national accomplishments and intimated the subsequent elections as a tangible pathway for change. "The realized accomplishments stand before you, and change is feasible in the imminent elections,” he asserted.

Balancing his political standpoint with spirituality, El-Sisi remarked, "Ultimately, everything rests in God’s hands," concurrently confronting “erroneous narratives” that have sown seeds of skepticism regarding state-led accomplishments. He firmly posited that nation-building is sculpted “through developmental and reformative endeavors, not through destructive and defamatory practices.”

The timing of El-Sisi’s remarks is poignant, arriving a mere few days before the commencement of the presidential candidate registration window. The National Election Authority (NEA) is slated to accept candidature submissions from October 5 to 14. Whilst El-Sisi has maintained silence regarding his candidacy, widespread conjecture suggests a potential bid for a third term.

The ensuing presidential election proceedings are scheduled to unfurl from October 5 to December 18, circumventing any run-offs, according to Egypt’s National Election Authority guidelines. A current tally reveals seven political personas have unveiled their intent to contest in the upcoming electoral fray.

El-Sisi, during his eloquent delivery, accentuated the imperativeness of persistent development, imploring citizens to not retreat from such objectives, even if it demands traversing paths of hunger and deprivation. He proclaimed, "If achieving developmental and prosperity benchmarks for the nation mandates we forsake food and drink, so be it."

Motivating Egyptians to peer beyond immediate desires and aspirations, he admonished, "Your dreams should dwarf this; do not permit your dream to be confined to a mere meal."

Moreover, El-Sisi spotlighted pivotal developmental milestones, such as the 2015 inauguration of the New Suez Canal, executed amidst a milieu of "false narratives, defamation, and rumors," which cast shadows of doubt over every initiative. He disclosed that revenues from the Suez Canal are poised to crest at $10.5 billion by the culmination of this year, effectively doubling pre-2015 revenues, and anticipated to ascend to $12.5 billion by the end of the fiscal year 2024/2025.
