President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received on Monday Chief of the British Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) Richard Peter Moore in Cairo.

"The president asked Moore to convey his greetings to UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, stressing Egypt's keenness on maintaining cooperation with the UK at the intelligence and security levels," Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said.

President Sisi also stressed the need for unified efforts to uproot terrorism through upholding values of citizenship, combating extremist thoughts, and achieving development.

Moore, on his part, expressed his country's keenness to maintain coordination with Egypt to overcome various challenges, especially the situation in the Middle East region, the Eastern Mediterranean region, and Africa.

He also appreciated Sisi's efforts to consolidate regional security and stability, and combat the phenomena of terrorism and illegal migration.

The meeting tackled other issues of mutual concern, topped by the Libyan crisis and efforts made by Egypt to solve it.

The meeting was attended by Chief of the Egyptian Intelligence Service Abbas Kamel and British Ambassador to Egypt Geoffrey Adams.
