Premier League continues to dominate the global football economy, ranking as the highest-revenue league in the world in 2026.

According to the international network Sportsdunia, the English competition generates annual revenues estimated between €7.1 billion and €7.5 billion, alongside an impressive average match attendance of around 38,600 spectators.

The league’s financial supremacy is largely driven by its powerful international broadcasting deals and the massive global marketing value of English clubs.

European leagues occupy most of the top positions in the revenue rankings. La Liga comes second with revenues ranging between €5.0 billion and €5.6 billion, while the Bundesliga ranks third, generating approximately €5.5 billion to €6.0 billion annually.

The German league also boasts the highest average stadium attendance in Europe, exceeding 42,000 spectators per match.

The Serie A holds fourth place with revenues estimated between €3.5 billion and €4.0 billion, followed by Ligue 1 in fifth place, generating €2 billion to €3 billion annually.

These five competitions are widely regarded as the financial and sporting pillars of European football.

Outside Europe, several leagues have also recorded notable financial growth in recent years.

The Campeonato Brasileiro Série A ranks sixth with revenues between €1.0 billion and €1.5 billion and an average attendance of about 27,187 fans.

Meanwhile, the Primeira Liga sits seventh with revenues of €350 million to €400 million, followed by the Eredivisie in eighth place with €700 million to €800 million.

In ninth place comes Major League Soccer with revenues estimated between €1.5 billion and €2 billion and an average attendance of around 22,100 fans, while Mexico’s Liga MX completes the top ten with revenues of €700 million to €800 million and an average crowd close to 21,000 spectators.

These leagues have also served as global stages for some of football’s biggest stars, including Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé, and Mohamed Salah, whose global popularity has significantly boosted the commercial appeal and worldwide reach of the sport.

The ranking of the world’s best leagues is determined by several factors, including financial strength, club revenues, stadium attendance, level of competition, and international exposure.

Together, these indicators highlight how football has evolved into a multi-billion-euro global industry that extends far beyond the traditional boundaries of sport. ⚽💰
