FC Porto secured the Primeira Liga title for the 2025–2026 season with two matches to spare after a 1-0 win over Alverca, combined with Benfica dropping points in a draw against Famalicão.

The triumph marks Porto’s first league title in four years and their 31st overall, keeping them second on the all-time list behind Benfica, who hold 38 titles.

Porto reached 85 points after 32 rounds, opening a nine-point gap over Benfica to confirm the championship.

Despite finishing second, Benfica endured a rare and frustrating campaign under Jose Mourinho, going the entire league season unbeaten with 22 wins and 10 draws but still missing out on the title. Porto, in contrast, lost just once throughout the campaign.

After the match, Porto coach Francesco Farioli praised the team’s efforts, highlighting the emotional significance of the achievement following several challenging seasons.

Meanwhile, Benfica drew attention off the pitch by sarcastically awarding the “Man of the Match” honor to the referee via social media, expressing frustration over officiating decisions in their draw.
