Pope Tawadros II Congratulates President Sisi on Ramadan

Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria, the Pope of the Orthodox Church of Alexandria, congratulated on Thursday President Abdel Fattah Sisi on the occasion of Ramadan, all officials in the government, and all Muslims in Egypt.

The Pope referred in his letter that Ramadan is a sacred season for worship and this season is highly blessing and spiritual in human life and his relation with God.

At the end of his letter, Pope Tawadros expressed that part of the great fasting season of the church will be parallel with Ramadan.

The National Research Institute of Astronomy & Geophysics (NRIAG) will observe Ramadan crescent tomorrow in coordination with Dar Al-Iftaa, and the Egyptian Survey Authority.

The NRIAG will be assisted by six committees across Egypt in Matrouh, Fayium, Helwan, Sohag, Qena, and Aswan.

The Egyptian Dar Al-Iftaa will observe the Ramadan crescent on Friday, which is known as “Yawm Al Roo’yah” (The Day of Observing the New Crescent.”

According to the institute, the Ramadan crescent will appear at 8:25 am on Friday. It can be spotted in Mecca and Cairo for 17 minutes after sunset.

Regarding the rest of the Muslim countries, the crescent could be spotted between 10 and 25 minutes after the sunset. So, the first day of Ramadan is expected to be on Saturday, April 2, according to astronomical studies.
