Pope Francis, Head of the Catholic Church, condemned the "Bucha massacre" and Kissed the Ukrainian flag sent to him from the town, where the dead bodies were scattered in the streets after the withdrawal of Russian troops.

The deaths in Bucha, outside the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, sparked a global outcry and vows of more sanctions against Moscow from the West, according to "Reuters".

"The recent news of war in Ukraine, instead of bringing relief and hope, has brought new atrocities, like the Bucha massacre," Pope Francis said at the end of his weekly meeting in the Vatican Hall.

"Stop this war! Let the weapons be silent! Stop sowing death and destruction," he said, denouncing cruelty against defenseless civilians, women, and children.

Moreover, Pope Francis revealed that the dirty and stained flag with inscriptions and symbols on it was brought to him from Bucha on Tuesday.
