Today, Monday, the Polish Ministry of the Interior announced that illegal immigrants are preparing to storm the Belarusian-Polish border.
The ministry issued a statement that said that illegal immigrants gather at the border crossing in Kuznitsa on the Belarusian side. The statement claimed that with the support of Belarusian security officials, the immigrants may be preparing to cross the border by force.
The statement revealed that Border guards, police, and soldiers are on standby.
An aerial video released by the Polish Interior Ministry showed that a large crowd of migrants had overrun the fence on the Belarusian side and were heading towards the border meanwhile, Polish security forces lined up on its territory.
Today, Monday, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said that his country cannot persuade migrants on its western borders to return to their homes.
The Belarussian state news agency "Belta" quoted Lukashenko as saying that his country is trying to persuade the migrants to return to their homes, but to no avail.
He explained that Minsk, the capital city of Belarussia, would respond to any new sanctions imposed by the West.
It should be noted that thousands of migrants from the Middle East and Africa headed towards the Belarusian border with Poland, last Monday, in an attempt to cross the border; which prompted the Polish authorities to deploy thousands of soldiers and border guards, to prevent them from crossing the border.
The European Union accuses Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko of orchestrating the movement of migrants and refugees, in an attempt to enter the territory of the European Union; in response to the sanctions, previously imposed by Brussels on his country, against the backdrop of the Belarusian presidential elections, which Lukashenko denies.
