Police in Kansas City have arrested two individuals in connection with a theft involving equipment belonging to the England national team during the 2026 World Cup, according to media reports.

The incident occurred while a shipment of training gear was being transported to the team’s accommodation in the city. Several essential items were reported missing, including players’ boots, official match balls, and key training equipment.

French outlet Foot Mercato reported that Kansas City Police confirmed the arrests and said an investigation had been launched into the alleged theft from a vehicle linked to the England squad.

In an official statement, police said they were examining a “possible theft of equipment from a vehicle belonging to the England team, which arrived in Kansas City earlier in the day.”

According to Daily Mail Sport, the missing items included boots belonging to some of England’s top players, along with tactical materials, analysis tools, and recovery equipment used by the coaching staff led by Thomas Tuchel.

Reports also suggested that nearly the entire shipment had been compromised during transport from Florida to Missouri, with only a limited number of items successfully delivered to the team’s base.

Investigators are currently looking into whether individuals involved in the logistics operation may have played a role in the incident. The English Football Association is working closely with local authorities to recover the stolen equipment.

England are set to begin their World Cup campaign on June 17 against Croatia.
