PM Reviews Activating Cooperation between Egypt, Italy in Agricultural Field

PM Mustafa Madbouly chaired a meeting Tuesday at the government headquarters in the new city of Alamein; to review the executive procedures to activate the means of bilateral cooperation between Egypt and Italy, in the field of agriculture and agricultural manufacturing, in the presence of Al Sayed El Qusier, Minister of Agriculture.

Madbouly stressed that there is great cooperation with Italy in all fields, especially the agricultural sector, praising the growing momentum in Egyptian-Italian relations, and what was agreed upon during his recent visit to Rome on the need to move forward in strengthening bilateral relations through joint projects in various fields, including agriculture and food processing.

The Prime Minister said: There is a request from the Italian side, based on the visit of the Italian delegation to Egypt a while ago, which included a number of investors, to identify certain areas for agriculture and link them to agricultural manufacturing, so the government is currently working to implement the special procedures in this regard, taking into account the emphasis on the need for water for irrigation.

During the meeting, the Minister of Agriculture indicated that there is cooperation in a number of areas with the Italian side, and coordination is already being carried out with the Italian ambassador on the identification of available areas, and coordination is also being carried out with the company "New Egyptian Rural Development".

Nader Saad, Spokesman for the cabinet said that the details of the specific available places were explained, and the Minister of Irrigation explained the areas of cooperation with the Italian side, noting that the specific places for agriculture were discussed, and the availability of water were indicated.

The official spokesman added that, at the end of the meeting, it was agreed to communicate with the Italian side and present the details of the available land and their areas, with emphasis on the readiness to inspect on nature, especially since there is a delegation from Italy that will visit Egypt during the coming period on this purpose.
