Phenomenal Soliman Leads Ahly to Victory against Platinum(2-0)

El-Ahly defeated Zimbabwe's Platinum 2-0 in the third round of the group stages of the African Champions League today, Saturday, at Al-Salam Stadium.

The Red Giants raised their balance to 6 points, equal to the Tunisian Club Esperance and the Sudanese Hilal, while Platinum remained without points in fourth place.

Ahmed El-Shaikh wasted a chance early on for El-Ahly in the fourth minute after penetrating through the defences wasting a chance on goal.

Walid Soliman gave El-Ahly the lead in the 8th minute with a header after Ali Maaloul sent a cross from the left side, which was received by the veteran player with a header in the net of Platinum.

Saeed Samir was injured in the 14th minute of the match, got off the field on the players ’cart, then Rami Rabiaa participated in the 17th minute instead.

In the second half, Al-Sheikh received a penalty kick after he was blocked by the Platinum defender, and the match's referee did not hesitate to whistle, counting the interception.

Soliman went ahead to take the penalty kick and doubled the score in the 69th minute after placing it on left side of the goalkeeper who touched it and he couldn't get it away.
