Italian club US Sassuolo Calcio has confirmed a case of Pertussis within its squad, with five additional individuals showing similar symptoms and currently placed in health isolation.
The announcement came in an official statement released on Friday, just one day before the team’s scheduled Serie A match against Juventus FC.
Sassuolo stated that after conducting several medical tests in recent days, one confirmed infection was identified, while five others remain suspected cases. All affected individuals have been under close medical supervision for the past three days.
The club added that team members who are not showing symptoms have been given preventive measures, with full adherence to health protocols in coordination with relevant authorities.
Sassuolo has also informed the Lega Serie A and emphasized that it continues to monitor the situation closely while taking all necessary precautions to protect players and staff.
According to Italian media reports, the match against Juventus, scheduled for Saturday evening, is expected to proceed as planned, with no intention of postponement.
The club did not disclose the identity of the infected individual or the suspected cases.
