Qatar qualified for the main round of the World Handball Championship 2021 after a dramatic victory over Japan, with a score of 31-29, this afternoon in the second round of Group C.
The first half ended with Japan leading 16-15.
But the Qatari team managed to return to the match and beat Japan by 4 goals, before Japan returned to the game and tied at the score of 26-26.
The excitement continued in the match during the last minutes, as the Japanese player missed a penalty throw in the last minute when the score was 30-29 after a wonderful response from the Qatar goalkeeper, in favor of Al-Annabi, to exploit the Qatar players and score the 31st goal to finish the match in their favor.
With this result, Qatar's tally rises to the fourth point, to formally qualify for the main round to become the 9th team that qualified for this round, while Japan's tally stopped at one point.
Qatar will meet Croatia at the end of this group's match fixtures, while Japan will conclude its matches against Angola.
