The US Department of Defense (Pentagon) confirmed that the goal of the United States OF America (USA) is not to enter into a war with either  Russia and China because such a war would be devastating for the entire world.

"In principle, we have never fought the Soviet Union. With regard to the great powers, our goal is not to go to war with China and Russia, because that war would be terrible for our countries," Deputy Commander of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces, General John Hyten, said during a seminar organized by the Brookings Institution  ."

He continued to say that this war will destroy the world and the global economy. It will be bad for everyone, and we have to ensure that we do not go down this path.

Speaking about Russia, he noted the successes achieved in the dialogue with Moscow.

He added that the USA  had a good deal of success with the Soviet Union, and now with Russia, and we are negotiating with it on strategic stability to make sure that we understand the current situation. This is related not only to the nuclear field but also to space."

He concluded that whatever our differences, we have a common primary goal, which is never to clash because war with a nuclear state is a bad thing."

On June 10, Reuters, a news agency, quoted a US official as saying that a senior Pentagon official had held talks with the Chinese military, for the first time since US President Joe Biden took office last January.

The US official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Michael Chase, the US deputy assistant secretary of defense for China, spoke last week with Chinese Major-General Huang Chuping, deputy director of the Chinese military's office for international military cooperation.

The  US official added in a statement to "Reuters" that Chase focused on "crisis and risk management."

The United States has put confronting China at the center of its national security policy for years, and the Biden administration has described competition with China as the "greatest geopolitical test" of the century.
