U.S. Vice President Mike Pence isolated himself after confirming that one of his aides had been infected with the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, local media reported late Sunday.

Pence will remain in a self-quarantine away from the White House after one of his aides is diagnosed with the novel coronavirus, according to Bloomberg.

“Pence had no infection with COVID-19,” the report added.

On the other hand, the CNN reported that Pence will not enter self-quarantine, but rather he plans to be at the White House on Monday, according to his office statements on Sunday.

“The vice president will continue to follow the advice of the White House Medical Unit and is not in quarantine,” said Pence spokesperson Devin O’Malley.

Pence Tests Negative for Coronavirus

"Additionally, Vice President Pence has tested negative every single day and plans to be at the White House tomorrow," O'Malley said in the statement.

It’s noteworthy that Pence's press secretary, Katie Miller, tested positive for the virus.

The U.S. President, Donald Trump, said that Miller has not come into contact with him but noted that she has been in contact with Pence.

Her husband, Trump senior adviser Stephen Miller, is not expected to go to the White House for the immediate future, people familiar with his plans told the New York Times. He tested negative for the virus on Friday, the newspaper said.

The U.S. accounted for more than a third of global daily deaths from the virus last week.

On Sunday evening, the United States recorded 776 additional deaths from the new coronavirus within 24 hours, bringing the total number of pandemic deaths in the country to 79,522, according to the Johns Hopkins University census.

According to the Baltimore-based University (East), there are 1,329,072 COVID-19 infections in the United States.

On Sunday, President Trump's economic advisers defended the relaunching of the U.S. economy despite the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

On the other hand, experts warn that lifting the quarantine measures in many of the United States may lead to the spread of the pandemic.

“President Trump’s coronavirus response has been unprecedented and saved American lives,” White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said.

“While Democrats were pursuing a sham witch hunt against President Trump, President Trump was shutting down travel from China.”

A few days ago, Trump, said that the novel coronavirus crisis is worse than the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City.

The U.S. president has been facing criticism for his defense of reopening the economy, despite the absence of significant progress in containing the pandemic, despite opposition from experts and health officials.
