Brazilian soccer legend Pelé posted a photo on Instagram, in which his face is projected on a building in Qatar next to a message which says "Get well soon."
The 82-year-old former forward delivered special thanks to Qatar for the gesture and assured his supporters and fans that he is in the hospital for a routine visit.
"Friends, I am at the hospital making my monthly visit," he captioned in the post. "It's always nice to receive positive messages like this. Thanks to Qatar for this tribute, and to everyone who sends me good vibes!"
Pelé was reportedly taken to the Albert Einstein hospital last Tuesday in an unscheduled visit, by his wife, Marcia Aokoi, according to a report by Daily Mail.
The footballer’s health deteriorated as he was diagnosed with anasarca (general swelling), edemigemic syndrome (general edema), and a “decompensated heart failure.”
However, Pelé’s daughter Kely Nascimento stated that he was hospitalized in Sao Paulo to regulate the medication in his fight against a colon tumour.
She affirmed that there was “no emergency” concerning her 82-year-old father’s health.
Nascimento, who lives in the US, commented in an Instagram post after what she called “lots of alarm in the media today concerning my dad’s health.”
“Really and truly, we appreciate the concern and love,” Nascimento said.
