Cairo International Airport Customs, under the supervision of Dr. Magid Mosi, Head of the Central Administration, foiled an attempt by a foreign passenger to smuggle a quantity of narcotic pills and cannabis cigarettes into the country, as well as a separate attempt by an Egyptian female passenger to smuggle gemstone-studded rings and other items liable for customs duties and taxes.

The first case occurred during customs clearance for passengers arriving on an EgyptAir flight from London, where a foreign passenger of Egyptian origin was found in possession of approximately 988 narcotic tablets and capsules, in addition to 122 cannabis-containing cigarettes. The inspection team consisted of Hany Mahmoud, Head of the committee; customs inspectors Ahmed Antar and Samuel Wasfy for manual search; Osama Abdel Aziz from the X-ray unit; and Emad Salah, Head of Section, who carried out the body search, under the supervision of Hazem Mohamed Ali, Director of Operations.

The second case took place during customs clearance for passengers arriving on an EgyptAir flight from Casablanca, where a female passenger was found carrying 215 rings and pendants set with gemstones, along with five other loose gemstones, totaling 220 pieces subject to customs duties and taxes. After releasing the personal items she had declared, the rest were seized. The inspection team included Abdel Qawy Azzouz, Head of the committee; Emad Salah for manual search; Basma Hosny and Amal Mostafa for body search; and Ammar Sabry from the X-ray unit, with additional participation from customs officers Mahmoud Talaat, Mahmoud Abbas, Gamal Abdel Nasser, and Ahmed Antar, all under the supervision of Hazem Mohamed Ali, Director of Operations.

By order of Ahmed Fouad Hamed, Acting Director of the Fourth Administration at Terminal 3, an official customs seizure report No. 127/2025 was filed against the male passenger and report No. 130/2025 against the female passenger, following submission to Dr. Magid Mosi, Head of the Central Administration. The male passenger was referred to the competent prosecution authority.

These seizures were made as part of the continuous oversight by Mr. Ahmed El-Amawy, Head of the Customs Authority, with the support of Finance Minister Mr. Ahmed Kouchouk.
