Parl't Speaker, Belgium Counterpart Hold Talks in Brussels

Egypt's Parliament Speaker Hanafy El-Gebaly held talks on Thursday with his Belgian counterpart Eliane Tillieux in Brussels.

This came on the sidelines of the 7th Summit of Speakers and 16th plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean (PA-UfM), which will be held respectively on 3 and 4 December 2021 in the European Parliament in Brussels.

 

At the outset of the meeting, El-Gebaly affirmed Egypt's pride in the historic ties between both states, expressing Egypt's keenness to coordinate and exchange visions with Belgium on regional and international issues of common interest.

 

He also expressed Egypt's aspiration to strengthen parliamentary cooperation with Belgium, under the ancient and well-established system of the parliaments of the two countries.

Moreover, El-Gebaly also reviewed the most prominent features of Egypt's Vision 2030, which embodies the aspirations of the Egyptian people to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development through a competitive, balanced and persified economy.

In addition, Egypt's Parliament speaker highlighted the country's efforts in combating terrorism and promoting citizenship, stressing that Egypt has become a role model in religious tolerance, equality, and coexistence amid a turbulent region.

On her part, Tillieux welcomed El-Gebaly, stressing her aspiration to strengthen the bonds of parliamentary cooperation between Egypt, and Belgium, in a way that enhances bilateral ties between the two brotherly countries.
