The Speaker of Egypt’s House of Representatives, Dr. Hanafy Gebaly, delivered a speech following the approval of several government-proposed tax reform bills. These laws aim to provide tax incentives, simplify procedures, and reform the overall tax system. They include measures for businesses with annual revenues not exceeding EGP 20 million, resolving the status of certain taxpayers, and amendments to the Unified Tax Procedures Law No. 206 of 2020.
The Speaker highlighted the strategic importance of these laws as part of Egypt’s ongoing economic reform agenda, emphasizing that they demonstrate the government’s commitment to fostering an investment-friendly environment and achieving sustainable development. “What we have approved today marks a strategic step in reforming the tax system, streamlining its procedures, and offering tax incentives,” he stated, adding that these measures align with the vision of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
The reforms are part of a broader government effort to enhance financial performance and attract investments, with a clear focus on creating a more competitive and sustainable economy. Dr. Gebaly commended the government’s approach, which reflects a strong commitment to the leadership’s vision of strengthening Egypt’s economic standing.
He further stressed the importance of rapid implementation, stating, “Achieving this vision requires harmonious action aligned with the firm political will to ensure these efforts become a tangible reality. This will contribute to the revival of the national economy and solidify Egypt’s position as a global investment hub.”
