A group of PAOK FC fans staged a protest against Maccabi Tel Aviv's participation in the UEFA Europa League, which begins its group stage matches this evening, Wednesday.
PAOK is set to face Maccabi Tel Aviv in the opening round of the Europa League group stage, which kicks off today at various stadiums across Europe.
Before the match, PAOK supporters gathered outside the stadium to demonstrate against the Israeli team's involvement in the competition.
The protest stems from the ongoing conflict and the brutal war against the residents of Gaza, which has now entered its second year.
The demonstrators raised banners opposing Maccabi Tel Aviv’s participation in the tournament, and many of them waved Palestinian flags in solidarity with the people of Gaza, who have endured nearly two years of hardship.
Last season, Tottenham Hotspur won the Europa League title, defeating Manchester United 1-0 in the final.
