The Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas expressed grave concern over the ongoing conflict in Gaza, alleging a genocide and massacres committed by Israeli forces.

During a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Abbas stressed the precarious and challenging circumstances, as Gaza faces what he termed as a "genocidal war" and massacres visible to the entire world.

President Abbas conveyed that from the outset, efforts have been made and extensive contacts with world leaders have been carried out to halt the aggression.

He mentioned attending a summit in Cairo, holding numerous meetings, calling on the UN Security Council to cease the aggression, facilitating humanitarian aid, preventing displacement abroad, and halting assaults by settlers and occupation forces in Jerusalem and the West Bank.

He also emphasized the importance of pursuing a political solution based on international legal decisions to end the occupation.

The president's remarks come amid a complex political and military landscape.

The occupied West Bank recently witnessed Abbas dismissing most of its governors, indicating political turmoil within the Palestinian Authority.

The situation in Gaza has escalated with Israel's military issuing an evacuation warning to over a million residents in the northern region, prompting a mass migration to the southern part of Gaza ahead of a potential ground invasion.

The U.S. has pledged $100 million in humanitarian aid to Gaza and the West Bank, demonstrating international concern over the crisis.

Furthermore, public dissatisfaction is manifesting in Gaza, with rare public protests against Hamas, which took control from Abbas's forces in 2007 and led to a blockade by Israel and Egypt.

The ongoing conflict underscores the significant challenges President Abbas faces, not only from external aggression but also from internal political discord and an embattled population seeking respite from the violence and political instability.

In addition to the immediate crisis, President Abbas's statements reflect a broader narrative of enduring hardship and a call for international intervention to uphold human rights and restore political stability in the Palestinian territories.
