Palestinian Ministry Calls for UN Action Against Israeli Occupation

"The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has urgently called on the United Nations Security Council to overcome its current paralysis and take immediate action to compel Israel, as an occupying power, to halt its aggression and colonization.

The ministry demands the implementation of practical measures to enforce international law resolutions that aim to end the Israeli occupation of Palestinian state lands, according to the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice.

In a statement released by the Palestinian News Agency on Tuesday, the ministry vehemently condemned unilateral and illegal actions by the occupation, including the deepening and expansion of colonialism in Palestinian territories.

This includes constructing a colonial road in Yasuf village east of Salfit, building a new settlement on the lands of Battir in Bethlehem, and seizing approximately 720 dunams for this purpose.

Furthermore, the ministry denounced the legitimization of random colonial outposts and the allocation of substantial funds to connect these settlements, which isolates Jerusalem from its Palestinian surroundings and transforms Palestinian communities into 'cantons', dissecting the occupied West Bank with over 800 military checkpoints and gates that control and restrict the movement of Palestinian citizens and impose additional collective punishments.

The ministry also highlighted a significant increase in the demolition of homes and facilities across the West Bank, including Jerusalem, describing these acts as the most heinous forms of ethnic cleansing and forced displacement.

The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to addressing these colonial crimes in various forms with all nations and international bodies, especially the UN Security Council and human rights entities, and with states that are signatories to the Geneva Conventions.

It holds the international community responsible for its failure to stop the escalating aggression of the occupation and the long-term threats it poses to the region's stability and conflict arena."
