Palestinian Health Minister Mai Al-Kaila said on Saturday that the Israeli army had transformed Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza into a military barracks, after evacuating most of the injured and the medical personnel who were inside.
The Palestinian Minister said that the situation in hospitals in Gaza and the West Bank is catastrophic, calling for the protection of medical staff in the Strip.
In the same context, Al-Kaila confirmed that the Baptist Hospital in Gaza is under siege by the Israeli army, noting that more than 11,500 have been killed, including more than 5,000 children, since the start of the Israeli war on Gaza.
Earlier, the Director-General of the Ministry of Health in Gaza confirmed that there were 120 wounded out of 650 are still trapped in the Shifa Medical Complex, including premature babies, noting that a United Nations team had been informed to help evacuate them.
The director of health in Gaza added that the Israeli army forced the medical team to leave the Shifa complex in Gaza, while 5 doctors remained with the remaining sick and injured people.
