Palestinian Foreign Ministry Denounces Israel’s Demolition of UNRWA Facilities in Jerusalem

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has held Israel fully responsible for the storming and demolition of facilities belonging to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in occupied Jerusalem.

In a statement, the ministry said the actions constitute a grave escalation and a flagrant violation of international law, stressing that UN premises enjoy special protection and immunity under international conventions.

The ministry described the demolition of UNRWA headquarters in Jerusalem as a clear breach of the sanctity of UN facilities, warning that such measures undermine the international protection system for Palestinian refugees. It added that Israel’s actions are part of broader efforts to weaken UNRWA’s role and obstruct its humanitarian mandate.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry called on the United Nations to take urgent and effective measures to ensure respect for UNRWA’s privileges and immunities, and to hold Israel accountable for violations against international organizations operating in the occupied Palestinian territories.

UNRWA provides essential services, including education, healthcare, and humanitarian assistance, to millions of Palestinian refugees across the region.
