Head of the Palestinian National Committee for the Administration of the Gaza Strip, Ali Shaath, said the delivery of 200,000 prefabricated housing units to Gaza will mark the first step in the committee’s plan to rehabilitate and rebuild the enclave.
In a televised interview, Shaath said committee members possess long-standing experience in national, development, and humanitarian work, noting that the committee officially began its work following its first meeting in Cairo.
Shaath said the committee’s mission focuses on supporting women, children, and Palestinians affected by the conflict, with the aim of restoring hope and dignity to Gaza’s population. He added that implementation will proceed according to a clear and defined timeline to meet residents’ needs as quickly as possible.
He stressed that the provision of prefabricated housing units would be an urgent priority, describing it as a non-deferrable step in the early phase of reconstruction efforts. The units are intended to replace temporary shelters and tents that leave residents exposed to harsh weather conditions.
According to Shaath, the committee has already selected specific sites for the housing units and plans to ensure the availability of essential services, including education, healthcare, security, and humanitarian relief, to provide displaced families with dignified living conditions.
The announcement comes amid ongoing international and regional efforts to address Gaza’s humanitarian crisis and lay the groundwork for longer-term recovery and reconstruction.
