The national teams of Palestine and Libya will clash in a decisive and winner-takes-all showdown today, Tuesday, at Thani bin Jassim Stadium in Doha, Qatar.
The two sides will be fighting for a coveted qualification spot at the 2025 Arab Cup, joining Group A alongside Qatar, Tunisia, and the winner of Syria vs. South Sudan.
The tournament will be played in a group-stage format, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the quarter-finals.
The final is scheduled for December 18, 2025, in Doha.
The Palestinian team head to the match under through circumstances with numerous absences due to injuries.
Key players are missing, including Wissam Abu Ali and Adam Kaid of Zamalek, who recently returned to training but has not played a competitive match for six weeks.
The squad include Zamalek striker Oday Dabbagh, as well as Hamid Hamdan and Badr Mousa from Petrojet.
Palestine’s head coach, Ihab Abu Jazar, affirmed his players’ readiness despite the challenges, saying: “We recognize the strength of the Libyan national team, but we are used to big matches. We aim to snatch the qualification ticket despite the many injuries.”
He added: “We are missing around 15 players, but we have great confidence in the group that is available. Our goal is to be present at the Arab Cup finals in Qatar.”
On the other side, Libya, led by Senegalese coach Aliou Cissé, are looking to pass this crucial test and renew its continental presence through the Arab Cup.
However, the participation of star player Ali Youssef of Tunisian club Club Africain remains doubtful.
Cissé stated: “Our focus now is on delivering a strong performance in the Arab Cup, and we hope to achieve positive results as preparation for bigger challenges in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.”
