Cairo, 26 October 2023: The Embassy of Pakistan in Cairo observed the Kashmir Black Day today with a series of events to bring attention to the ongoing situation in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The main event was a seminar titled "Kashmir Continues to Bleed" which witnessed a significant turnout including members from the Egyptian academia, intellectuals, dignitaries, media personnel, civil society members, and students from Al-Azhar University.

The seminar served as a platform to read out the messages from the President, the Prime Minister, and the Foreign Minister of Pakistan. The overarching theme of the discourse was that the fate of Jammu and Kashmir should be decided in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council Resolutions, reflecting the wishes and aspirations of the people residing in IIOJK.

Speakers at the event voiced their concern over the grave human rights violations committed by Indian occupation forces against innocent civilians over decades. They strongly condemned the unilateral actions taken by India on 5 August 2019 to alter the disputed status of Kashmir, demanding an immediate reversal of these actions.

One notable moment during the seminar was when a speaker paid homage to the people of Kashmir through his poignant poem, "O Freemen of Kashmir, I salute you...I salute you."

Additionally, the attendees were shown a documentary along with a pictorial presentation shedding light on the dire conditions faced by the people of IIOJK.

Ambassador Sajid Bilal expressed his concerns over India's illegal steps on 5th August 2019, which he stated have emboldened the Indian government to intensify state-sponsored terror and oppression against the people of IIOJK. He urged India to rescind these illegal measures.

In his closing remarks, Ambassador Bilal reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of IIOJK. He reiterated that Pakistan's moral, political, and diplomatic backing will persist until the people of Kashmir are freed from the brutal Indian occupation. Through today’s event, the Embassy of Pakistan in Cairo aimed to generate more global awareness and support for the cause of Kashmir.
