Pakistan has welcomed the response of Hamas to the peace proposal announced by US President Donald Trump, describing it as an opportunity to secure an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, halt bloodshed, and begin a credible political process toward lasting peace.

In an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan said the response opens a path to the release of hostages and Palestinian prisoners, the delivery of unhindered humanitarian assistance, and a sustainable resolution of the conflict. Pakistan called on Israel to immediately cease its attacks.

The government expressed appreciation for Trump’s efforts to bring peace to Gaza and voiced hope that the initiative would lead to a durable ceasefire and a comprehensive political settlement. Pakistan reaffirmed its intention to play a constructive role in supporting this process.

The statement also reiterated Pakistan’s principled support for the Palestinian cause, emphasizing full solidarity with the Palestinian people in their struggle for self-determination.

It called for the establishment of a sovereign, viable, and contiguous State of Palestine based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif (Jerusalem) as its capital, in line with international law and relevant UN resolutions.
