Pakistani media reported that the Pakistan Air Force has shot down two Indian fighter jets.
The announcement comes in response to India’s military operation, launched late Tuesday, targeting what it called “terrorist infrastructure” in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir as part of "Operation Sindoor."
In a statement, the Pakistani military vowed a “comprehensive and forceful response” to the Indian airstrikes. “India will now receive a full and firm reply,” Pakistan’s army said, as quoted by Reuters.
The military confirmed that retaliatory actions were underway. According to initial reports, at least three people were killed and 12 others injured in the Indian strikes on Pakistani territory.
India had earlier announced the launch of a military operation targeting nine locations, claiming it was aimed at eliminating terrorist camps. Indian forces stated that they carried out precision strikes and began shelling positions in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a precautionary move, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) temporarily suspended flights and rerouted aircraft toward Karachi Airport, following reports of Indian airstrikes near border regions.
