Pakistan suffered power outages across the country on Monday, due to a major breakdown in its national grid, the federal energy ministry said.
The Pakistan Ministry of Energy added in a tweet that the power outage was triggered by a drop in frequency of the national grid, that resulted in a widespread breakdown in the power system.
"According to preliminary information, at about 7:34 am (local time), the national network experienced a frequency loss, which caused a major malfunction. There is rapid work to revive the system."
Power was cut off in all major cities, including Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore and Peshawar.
