Pakistani Ambassador to Egypt, Sajid Bilal called on India to ensure the safety, security and well-being of minorities, especially Muslims, and that they do not fall victim to the mere practice of their faith and religious rites.

The Pakistani ambassador called for an international, independent, impartial, prompt, thorough and effective investigation into the human rights violations committed by the Indian government against demonstrators and defenders of human rights.

During a press conference held, Monday, at the embassy headquarters, Bilal added that two officials from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in India made statements offensive to the Holy Prophet Mohammad. He added that caused a lot of pain and harm to more than a billion Muslims around the world.

The Pakistani ambassador noted that this insulting statements provoked international condemnation, including Al-Azhar. However, the Indian government and the BJP's top leadership have so far avoided unequivocal condemnation of the offensive remarks.

He said that in conjunction with the offensive statements, hundreds of thousands of Indian Muslims took to the streets to peacefully protest the Indian government’s complicity in this matter.

He pointed out that the Indian government responded inappropriately and even brutally against the protesters through the use of law enforcement agencies and sponsoring the crowds of fanatic "Hindaka" who attack Muslims indiscriminately.

He continued: "The atrocities include the demolition of the homes of Muslim demonstrators an old ruse from the pages of the Israeli pamphlet, extrajudicial detention, beatings and killings."

The Pakistani ambassador cited what Amnesty International said that Indian police killed a bystander by shooting him 6 times and two protesters, including a 15-year-old boy, with a bullet to the head in Ranchi, Jharkhand state, India. In Sohranpur, Uttar Pradesh, BJP politicians celebrated on social media with video of a police officer beating up peaceful Muslim protesters.

Bilal added: "Muslims are being stripped of their humanity through unbridled hate speech, misinformation and incitement to violence in the Indian media, and calls are being made for the genocide of Muslims."

The conference concluded that Islamophobia, xenophobia and right-wing extremism have emerged as a threat to interfaith harmony and peaceful coexistence in India. Given the current trajectory of the hard-line and arrogant behavior of the Indian authorities, the world could face a catastrophic humanitarian situation, sooner or later.
