The Palestinian Ministry of Education reported that 11,001 students have been killed and 17,772 others injured since the outbreak of the Israeli offensive on Gaza and the West Bank, which began on October 7.

According to the official Palestinian news agency, WAFA, the casualties are a result of ongoing hostilities in the region.

The Ministry's statement on Tuesday highlighted that the majority of casualties are from Gaza, where 10,888 students have been killed and 17,224 wounded.

In the West Bank, 113 students have been killed, 548 injured, and 429 arrested since the conflict began.

In addition to student casualties, 529 teachers and administrative staff have been killed, with 3,686 injured. In the West Bank, more than 129 teachers have been arrested.

The conflict has also caused significant damage to educational infrastructure. A total of 362 schools, universities, and educational buildings in Gaza have been bombed or severely damaged. Among them, 124 have suffered severe destruction, and 62 have been completely demolished.

In the West Bank, 69 schools and five universities have been raided and vandalized. Additionally, 133 schools in Gaza are now being used as shelters for displaced families.

As a result, 718,000 students in Gaza remain unable to attend schools or universities, facing not only educational disruptions but also severe psychological and health challenges due to the war.

The conflict's impact on the education sector has raised urgent concerns about the future of Palestinian students, as the continuing violence creates long-term consequences for their well-being and development.

Educational organizations are calling for immediate intervention to protect schools and students in conflict zones.
