Paris Saint-Germain winger Ousmane Dembélé voiced strong criticism of individualistic play within the squad following the club’s surprise defeat to Rennes in Ligue 1 action.

Speaking to Ligue 1+, Dembélé expressed frustration with what he described as a lack of collective spirit.

“We started the match very poorly. Rennes also played a very good match, but we need to show more desire.

Above all, we need to play for Paris Saint-Germain to win matches. If each of us plays for ourselves on the field, it’s not going to work. We won’t win the titles we want,” Dembélé said.

He added that last season the squad prioritized the club above personal ambitions and insisted that mindset must return during the decisive second half of the campaign.

“It’s Paris Saint-Germain that must come first, not individuals.”

Observers noted that Dembélé’s comments, combined with his visible frustration during the match, appeared to be directed at teammate Désiré Doué, although he did not name anyone directly.

Deployed primarily as a central striker, Dembélé dropped deep far less than in previous matches, making him more reliant on service from teammates. Ironically, he looked most effective when creating chances, notably in his assist for Doué and several dangerous crosses.

While he managed to find the net late in the match, he was also wasteful in front of goal. Dembélé remained active in pressing but was less consistent in counter-pressing, often conceding possession too easily after losing the ball.

PSG will now look to regroup quickly as they continue their domestic and European campaigns, with internal unity likely to be a key focus in the coming weeks.
