The sky of Luxor will witness the participation of international singers in the field of operatic performance, including the Belgian star Mickael Spadaccini, who possesses superior experience in the role of the Egyptian Commander “Radames” in opera Aida.
The grand event will take place at the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut in Luxor on October 26-28.
Sada el-Balad English (SEE) did not miss the chance to conduct an exclusive interview with Spadaccini during his visit to Egypt.
Which role and voice type will you perform in the grand event?
I will perform the role of Radames, the Egyptian commander, and I will use the Spinto tenor voice type "Countertenor."
This role requires a passage between gentle and roaring voice and that's what makes this opera phenomenal.
What makes this show more unique than any other one you've performed?
It will certainly be a special show, as it will take place in the actual site of the Aida story.
The love tale itself takes place in Egypt, so I think it will be a dream set to perform it in its original setting.
Have you performed the role of Radames Before?
I have performed the role of Radames around 50 times in theatres around the world in countries such as Russia, Italy, France, and Belgium.
What is your favorite Act?
My favorite is Act III, as the love of Radames will eventually lead to his death.
In your own opinion, what is the hardest act to perform?
All are difficult especially Act I, where the king will declare war and Radames will be chosen to be the leader of the army.
Nevertheless, I consider Act I, III, IV to be the toughest to perform.
What are your latest shows?
I will perform Mainz in the national museum in Slovakia then I have another one in Brno, Czech Republic and after that, I will come back to Egypt for the Luxor event.
Is it different to sing in an open theater?
To sing outdoor is a bit special but, after 15 years of career, I am used to it.
You need acoustic around the stage to provide performers with indoor like acoustics.
This opera is difficult, one has to remain humble in front of this masterpiece.
Which advice do you have for young opera talents?
I advice young opera singers to study a lot, and to believe in their dreams because everything is possible. Believe in your self and go for it because all dreams came come true.
Did you visit any touristic places in Egypt?
I have visited the pyramids, the Egyptian museum and I have admired these ancient monuments.
Is it hard to perform in front of 5000 attendees?
It is our job, and we are happy to perform in front of this huge number of audience. We will do our best.
All the world knows Egypt and everybody wants to attend the event to see this wonderful country and meet these wonderful people.
