Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, inaugurated the African Handball Championship, which will be hosted by Egypt from January 17 to 27.
The tournament will be held in Indoor Hall 1 of Cairo International Stadium, and the tournament qualifies for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
In his speech during the opening ceremony, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, said: "Egypt welcomes all teams participating in the African Handball Championship, which is one of the important tournaments that enjoys a great follow-up from fans of the game in the African continent."
He added that this tournament represents an opportunity for the players to achieve the title and reach the Paris 2024 Olympics, expressing his confidence in the ability of the Egyptian players to crown the African title and delight the Egyptian fans.
For his part, Mansouro Aremo, President of the Confederation of African Handball, expressed his happiness with the start of the African Men's Handball Championship hosted by Egypt.
