In a step intended to boost support for his rebuilding plans, Oman's Sultan Haitham bin Tariq declared on Monday the formation of an emergency committee to support recovery efforts from Hurricane Shaheen, which ripped through the Gulf country last week.

Also in this regard, Oman's Sultan pointed out that more efforts must go beyond simply restoring damaged systems and ensure communities can withstand catastrophic weather.

At the beginning of October, four people, including a child have died in the afflicted residences, and six were found dead under rubble in Sistan and Baluchistan in the southeast of neighboring Iran.

The death toll in Omani coastal cities rose to at least 7 on Oct. 4 after three days of heavy rains triggered flash flooding that swamped districts and beaches extend along the Indian ocean.

In response to this disaster, rescue teams have been deployed to these regions to rescue victims from the last tropical storm, Shaheen.
