France secured an entertaining 3-2 victory over Northern Ireland in their final warm-up match before the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with Michael Olise stealing the spotlight at Stade Pierre-Mauroy on Monday evening.
The Bayern Munich star produced a sensational performance, scoring all three goals for Les Bleus in the 43rd, 49th, and 75th minutes to record his first international hat-trick. Olise became the first French player to score a hat-trick for the national team since Kylian Mbappé achieved the feat against Gibraltar in November 2023.
Northern Ireland fought back and managed to find the net twice, but Olise's brilliance ultimately proved decisive as Didier Deschamps' side returned to winning ways ahead of the World Cup.
The friendly served as France's last match before Didier Deschamps announces his final World Cup squad. The victory comes as a timely boost after Les Bleus suffered a disappointing defeat to Côte d'Ivoire in their previous warm-up fixture.
