Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hissein Brahim Taha, underlined that efforts aimed at ending ongoing Israeli aggression against Gaza must succeed. These include the recently announced proposal by the United States President Joe Biden regarding immediate ceasefire and Israel’s withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, release of prisoners and detainees, return of displaced persons to their homes, and ensuring the flow of humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip.

The Secretary-General reiterated the position of the OIC calling for immediate, comprehensive, and durable cessation of Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip and of all the violations committed by the Israeli occupation forces throughout occupied Palestinian territories, including Al-Quds Al-Sharif. He stressed the need for the Israeli occupation forces to withdraw fully and unconditionally from the Gaza Strip and to deliver humanitarian and medical aid and basic needs in a sufficient and sustainable manner throughout the Gaza Strip. He stated that it is imperative to open all crossings with the Gaza Strip, to reject any attempt at expelling the Palestinian people and to facilitate the return of displaced persons to their homes, provide shelter centers and necessary basic services, and expedite the reconstruction of Gaza, paving the way for peace and stability in the region, in line with the two-state solution, the relevant United Nations resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
