At the invitation of the Gulahmadzoda Zulfiqor Ahmad, Chairman of the Committee of Youth Affairs and Sports under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the OIC General Secretariat participated in the International Navruz Youth World Festival in Dushanbe organized by Tajikistan on 15-21 March 2025.
Concerned authorities in Tajikistan, as well as Youth delegates from OIC Member States and non-Member States, the representatives of international organizations, and UN relevant Agencies, attended this event.
In his speech at the Opening Ceremony Dr Boubakari Maiga Head of the Youth and Sports Department on behalf of the General Secretariat indicated that the initiative of the Republic of Tajikistan to invite OIC Member States to participate in this festival as part of the activities of the celebration of Navruz 2025 in Tajikistan, which was recognized by the UN General Assembly as international Day of Navruz since February 2010, is a clear testament to Tajikistan active role in supporting the efforts of OIC and the international community to achieving their goals and objectives in the areas of enhancing participation of youth at local, national, and international levels.
He stressed that OIC, through its 2025 Program of Action, the Resolutions adopted by the Islamic Summit, the CFM, and the Islamic Conference on Youth and Sports Ministers, attaches great importance to youth empowerment and youth capacity building.
On the sidelines of the event, Dr. MAIGA met with the Chairman of the Committee of Youth Affairs and Sports under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as Heads of Delegations participating in this important event and discussed ways to enhance cooperation and partnership in the field of youth empowerment.
