The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has observed the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, using the occasion to issue a call for enhanced efforts to protect women and girls in the digital space.
In a statement marking the day, the OIC stressed the urgent need for member states and the international community to address the escalating forms of violence targeting women and girls online, including cyberbullying, harassment, and the misuse of personal data.
The OIC affirmed its commitment to promoting gender equality and women's empowerment, urging robust measures—including legislative and policy reforms—to ensure a safe and supportive digital environment.
The organization reiterated that the elimination of all forms of violence against women is essential for achieving sustainable development and peaceful societies across the Islamic world.
