The Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) media observatory on Israel’s crimes against the Palestinians warned that the Gaza Strip has entered a critical stage since mid-June 2024. This period is considered the worst compared to previous months. The OIC Observatory identified three main elements worsening the crisis.
The first of which is the continued aggression of the Israeli forces against the Gaza Strip through complete control
over it, targeting all its areas, and refusing to cease military operations.
The second element represents the destruction of approximately 70% of Gaza’s urban infrastructure,
especially water networks, sanitation, and roads, as well as the destruction of most of the health sector, making most areas of Gaza uninhabitable.
The entry of limited quantities of humanitarian aid, fuel, and water is the third element that prevents any significant recovery, exacerbates the humanitarian crises, and increases its devastating effects more than ever before.
Daily statistics of casualties and targeted areas indicate that Israel aims to normalize this dire situation in Gaza. The ongoing direct killings appear to be part of a harsher collective punishment strategy.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reported that 67% of water and sanitation facilities in Gaza have been destroyed after about nine months of continuous war. This destruction has led to the spread of infectious diseases, particularly with high summer temperatures and polluted drinking water. The Khan Yunis municipality confirmed that 170-200 kilometers of water networks have been destroyed.
