Al Ahly Sports Club announced that authorities in Egypt, including the ones concerned with interior security, allowed the attendance of 50,000 fans at Cairo International Stadium for the Cairo-based team against the Sudanese Al Hilal.
Previously, Al Ahly asked the Egyptian Minister of the Interior Mahmoud Tawfik to allow fans to attend the team’s upcoming CAF Champions League group stage clash against Al Hilal of Sudan next Friday at full capacity, read a statement on the club’s official website on Sunday.
The demands were supported by a huge activity by Al Ahly fans on social media.
After receiving the approval, Al Ahly thanked the officials for their support and showed an appreciation for the efforts of officials for maintaining the security and stability of Egypt.
The upcoming game of the Ahly is a precious chance for Al Ahly to capture the group's second place in the tournament knockouts.
The winner of the Egyptian-Sudanese game will advance to the quarter-finals, after the South African Sundowns, officially, qualified for the knockouts.
